Food and Nutrition

All meals are prepared in our on-site, purpose-built kitchens by our in-house chefs.

Both services employ a chef who is HACCP trained. Menus are carefully planned and implemented by our chefs to contain a variety of tastes and textures while meeting nutritional requirements for each age group. We use fresh produce where we can and only ingredients of the highest quality are purchased. Every effort is made to ensure meals contain low sodium and low sugar content. The food pyramid is our primary focus when planning meals.

Menus rotate every three weeks and are displayed in the reception area of both services for parents to view. Copies of our menu can be provided to parents on request. Menu are reviewed and adjusted throughout the year.

Parents supply morning snack (Claremorris and Castlebar service) and evening snack (Claremorris service only). We have a healthy eating policy and request all food brought into the premises are of a healthy nature. Nuts and popcorn are prohibited.

If children require bottles, parents provide these each day. Bottles are stored in the fridge and heated using a water-based bottle warmer when required.

Our separate dining facilities offer a safe and hygienic environment where mealtimes can take place in an unhurried fashion. Children are always supervised by staff for meal and snack times and a positive and joyful experience is promoted.

Children are regularly involved in cooking and baking activities, which is a positive way of encouraging them to try new tastes and experience new textures.

Our kitchens are maintained by HACCP food hygiene standards and are regularly inspected by the Environmental Health Officer. Reports can be viewed in the reception of both services.
