Settling in Period
At the Care and Education Academy we recommend that you settle your child in gradually over one week.
We ask parents to allow three to five days for the settling in period. On day one, parents visit the service with their child and stay for 30-60 minutes. During this time parents will inform staff of their child’s general routine, likes, dislikes etc. while also getting to know our committed and friendly staff. Children then come each day after that for a short period of time before starting full time the following week.
Hours and times will be discussed with parent during the first week and will depend on how the child is settling.
Rooms
The ratios of adults to children in the centre as per childcare regulations are as follows:
- 1:3 | 0 – 1 year
- 1:5 | 1 – 2 years
- 1:6 | 2 – 3 years
- 1:8 | 3 – 6 years
- 1:11 | Montessori sessions
- 1:12 | Afterschool
The Siolta and Aistear curriculums are supported in all rooms at the Academy.
Key workers
In the Care and Education Academy, we operate a key worker system. Each child and family are allocated a specific member of staff who will provide continuity between home and the service, while helping the child and family to settle at our facility.
